Christine Laney Adkins first became interested in the field of speech pathology as a high school student in Little Rock, Arkansas. She recognized early her love of children and her desire to serve others. She completed her undergraduate work with honors in 1987 at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and received her graduate degree at Vanderbilt University in 1989. Christine began working at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center in Nashville, TN in 1989 where she was a senior clinician as well as a team leader for the Preschool Language Team and the Fluency team, supervised both graduate students and Clinical Fellows, assisted in policy-development and participated in various committees.
She maintained this role until 2003 when she began her own practice in a small office in the Berry Hill area of Nashville. Her practice merged with that of Grace Johnson and Associates in 2007 and has continued to expand and grow since! Over the years, Christine has spoken at numerous conferences, classes and gatherings on the topic of Apraxia and speech/language treatment. She received awards for Outstanding Clinical Supervisor and was nominated as an honoree at the Vanderbilt University Peabody College Roundtable Awards during her time at Vanderbilt.
Christine enjoys spending precious time at home with her family, being involved in her daughter Laney’s dance program, having an occasional night out to see the Nashville Predators play hockey, and keeping up with her former clients! She considers the opportunity to have a business that helps children one of the greatest of God’s many blessings!
